Transit Charts, gotta love’em

Re-Visiting trigger dates as Transits became a hobby once I learned how to read a chart properly. I got so invested in studying my past, that my behavior was similar to that of Jim Carrey’s character in the movie The Number 23. Astrology can do that to you if you don’t have a solid support system in place to help you navigate the wonder.

Now, have you ever wanted to know how much a moment in the past really affected your life? The real implications in the moment and the way it graced other parts of your life, not just the moment? Perhaps you met a person that changed the trajectory of your life, or lost someone close to you, or you had to move-first day of your new workplace? The day you made a huge change in your life, or plan to! (Transits can also be used for days to come.) No matter the day, there’s a chart for that!

Transit charts are how astrologers are able to study astrology in all ways and with most charts. It’s like summoning an energy and then saying-ok now let’s observe it on this specific date. There have been times where I will make a natal chart for a transit I want to keep as reference and I run a synastry chart instead of setting the date in a transit, but it is essentially the same thing.

The great conjunction in late 2020 is one example for the books. You can see in the synastry chart how the energy of this conjunction came with lots of oppositions and squares to my chart. My Sun, Mercury and Venus were sitting in the 4H. Very soon after, the roommate I had at the time and I became involved in a deep relationship within the home. Partnerships and philosophies were tested day by day and made relating a practice of what it actually means to be a rebel in the ways that matter.

The undertones of relationship makes this moment funny in relation to my chart because at the time I had a very Sagittarius Moon vibe. I had just ended a relationship and was still hanging out with my Gemini Sun/ Sag Moon ex. The moon conjunct Venus reminds me that this was a very casual time, which I am rarely comfortable in. I was able to enjoy the night of this conjunction with my roommate and my ex, looking through a telescope and forgetting that we had a story or what it was. Very much 7H vibes. The baton was being passed down and we didn’t even know it.

Another fun way to think about transits and the energy we live with is to see how people you surround yourself with, are a walking transit chart of the energy that was happening the moment they were born. The progressed development of that seed energy is who they are now, but you can count on the Natal Energy to be present as a transit would be. After dedicated practice on how to read the charts, and they start to become more familiar, these sorts of quirks start to be more self evident within the fractal nature of astrology.

The beauty of transit charts is that we are able to see how the energy of any given day blends or merges with the natal or progressed charts. The different layers of understanding can be used to set a foundation, verify and then solidify the theme of a chart. This is one of my favorite ways to look deep within a topic I have had to study with great care. I make more informed decisions and become aware of what to look for in the small and big picture.
